Senior Director of Finance PSD Logistics                         NEW YORK CITY

Our client is a major retail and consumer products company with headquarters in NYC.

We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to provide financial management of its Global Store 

Development Logistics expense.  This individual would be responsible for leading the financial reporting, 

analysis and controls process for International and Domestic Transportation and Distribution related to 

store development items.  The successful candidate will also provide financial insight to the Creative 

team regarding optimizing service, quality, cost, and service provider management.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the group's baseline financial operations including:  

• establishing the logistics budget for global store openings, 

• existing store development, warehouse costs, and asset purchasing logistics;  

• forecasting global logistics expense; monthly financial close and reporting processes; 

• ad-hoc reporting

• Generate reports on expense and performance results by project and by activity, identifying key variance drivers and recommending corrective courses of action

• Provide financial analysis and direction, in collaboration with PSD / Creative Operations

• Generate recommendations for cost and service improvement, including procurement, transportation, warehouse deployment and management, and duties management.

• Develop operational performance reports which provide analysis of cost and service metrics in alignment with strategic goals

• Create and redesign business processes to support effective financial management

• Support the negotiation of the service agreements with freight and warehousing service providers

• Define controls and reporting capabilities that enable accurate forecasting, financial analysis and management of operations, including month end accrual management.

• Present operational results, forecasts and analysis for internal and external reporting

• Coordinate with corporate finance to ensure the group follows all appropriate guidelines for ensuring operating efficiencies, internal controls and corporate governance 

• QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Bachelors Degree in Accounting and/or Finance - MBA preferred

• 6+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting and operating budget management

• Knowledge of distribution and/or transportation operations management

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access and Microsoft PowerPoint

• Experience with G/L systems (Lawson Financial a plus) 

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to influence and demonstrate confidence in communications with senior level management.  

• Strong leadership, organizational and analytical and interpersonal skills are required.  Must have the ability to manage conflict. 

• Agile learner - able to quickly assimilate relationships between variables under analysis

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including deadline-sensitive priorities.  

• Flexibility in adjusting and reprioritizing in order to meet changing needs in a fast-paced work environment

• Must be self-motivated/self-starter with the ability to work independently to resolve problems with limited information.
